Nami handmade silver ring by MANĒKO

Styling silver and gold-plated rings: three ways to build a look

Silver and gold-plated rings can be worn separately or together. A coherent combination comes from the relationship between pieces, not from making every surface identical. Start with one ring you enjoy wearing and use its shape or gemstone colour as a reference.

Handmade rings: choose a focal point

Choose one sculptural ring as the main piece and keep neighbouring jewellery quieter. Muse can provide an asymmetrical focal point, while the flowing contour of Nami creates another kind of emphasis. Try the main ring alone before adding more.

When combining two pronounced designs, check that they have room to sit comfortably. Consider the side profile as well as the top view; rings that look balanced in a photograph may feel crowded on adjacent fingers.

2. Repeat one detail

A shared detail can connect different finishes. Repeat a curve, a textured surface or a gemstone colour rather than matching everything. Bloom offers natural tourmaline colour within a botanical design, which can provide the reference for a more restrained combination.

Lay the pieces together in daylight, then try them on with clothing you actually wear. If the look feels busy, remove one element. The aim is to let the designs remain recognisable.

3. Choose the finish consciously

Browse our silver rings and gold-plated rings to compare the same collection in different finishes. Gold-plated silver has a gold layer over a silver base; it is not solid gold. Choose it for the appearance you prefer while taking the finish's care requirements into account.

Avoid letting rings rub repeatedly against one another. Read the jewellery care guide for storage and cleaning advice, and use the ring size guide for each finger rather than assuming one measurement works everywhere. Explore all handmade rings and build the combination one piece at a time.
